Boston Musical Intelligencer Review of Our October Program

Boston Globe Review of Our September Program

February: The BCO presents the incomparable Borromeo String Quartet, playing Debussy’s passionate and impressionistic quartet, a Takemitsu transcription of Tchaikovsky (joined by BCO music director Steven Lipsitt on clarinet), and Tchaikovsky’s lush and lovely sextet “A Souvenir of Florence” (joined by BCO violist Dani Rimoni and cellist Mark Simcox).

March: Daniel Stepner, one of North America’s pre-eminent Baroque violinists, leads the BCO in Vivaldi’s vivid musical traversal “The Four Seasons”. Complementing this iconic masterpiece are works by other nature-inspired composers: Brahms’s blooming invocation of Spring, and George Chadwick’s neo-Romantic Serenade, a bucolic New England charmer.

April: BCO favorite Irina Muresanu returns in one of her signature works, Mendelssohn’s passionate Violin Concerto in E-minor. The program opens with Fanny Mendelssohn’s glorious concert overture, and concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s First Symphony, a work of Beethovenian power and invention.
