Featured Soloist: Mark McEwen, oboe

A native of Saskatoon, Canada and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Mark McEwen joined the Boston Symphony's oboe section in September 1996, having previously served as principal oboe of the Florida Orchestra, the Music Festival of Taipei and the Orchester Staatsbad Meinberg in Germany. An alumnus of the Tanglewood Music Center where he met his wife. He has also held fellowships at Aspen and with the Colorado Philharmonic. He is on the faculty of the New England Conservatory of Music.

McEwen played Salieri's Concerto for Flute and Oboe for the Valentine's Concert with his wife Linda Toote, also on oboe, on February 14, 2004.
